Volunteers Make 9 Successful Rescues

This morning at the quack of dawn, the volunteers were alerted for the report of 9 ducks in a storm drain. As the Engine crew was pulling up, they were greeted by the frantic mother who was quite obviously in a fowl mood. Crews removed the storm drain cover, and climbed in to attempt the daring rescue. Due to the traumatizing and scary nature of the event, several of the wise quacker subjects chose to make a run for it through additional underground piping, which required crews to removed additional covers. After a short period of time, all subjects were successfully reunited with their mother, and the company went available. It is unclear wether the subjects were later evaluated by a ductor for any possible injuries.

Thank you. We'll be here all week....

On Monday April 9th Twin Valley FD of Chester Co. was sent to Rt. 345 near the edge of their district for an oder investigation of smoke in the area. As their units arrived they quickly realized they had a large scale event. Due to very tough access and the unknown of when the fire actually started, it had a good head start and had already consumed several acre's of land. As more and more resources were pulled into the scene, Tanker 3-9 was sent to T.V.F.D (Sta. 69) for standby. Only after a few minutes they were pulled in closer to the scene to protect houses in the area.
Later in the evening the Forestry crew members were sent to supplement staffing on the tanker and instead were placed into initial attack on the north side of the fire with members from Churchtown & Twin Valley.
Meanwhile Truck 3-9, had been moved up to Sta. 69 along with a Lanc. Co. Task force.
All units cleared by 3am Tuesday Morning. Tuesday evening While the Truck was again operating as part of a Lanco task force doing structure protection from the street, The 3-9 wild land crew was working a dozer line to the rear of the same structures for a 12 hour shift.
Later in the week, 3-9 forestry went back once again to work a 12 hour shift doing fire patrol and mop up operations.
In all, 741 acres of woodland burned, no structures were lost, thanks to the efforts of all the dedicated fire depts./ forestry crews and countless other agencies from all across the Commonwealth involved in this incident.
Visit Twin Valley Fire Departments website for countless pictures.
