Station 6-3 (Lafayette) has had a very rare opportunity recently. That being a very large vacant motel sitting along Lincoln Highway in their local. Occasionally when buildings are slated for demolition fire depts. are given an opportunity to use them for training, giving a real life environment and conditions that are nearly impossible to duplicate in a traditional training setting. With such a large structure and minimal time to use it Lafayette extended an invite to many mutual aid depts. to come and train.

This morning, 10 volunteers loaded up on Truck 3-9 and the Squad and traveled to the Congress Inn along Lincoln Highway to take part in live training along with Truck 2-4 (Eden), Squad 3-11 (Upper Leacock) and Lafayette. The crew from New Holland concentrated on about 30 rooms on the back side of the structure working on various forcible entry techniques, horizontal ventilation, overhaul, FF self survival,  building construction and how it relates to strategy and tactics used to fight a fire and finally members got to do some roof top vertical ventilation.

Once again a big thank you goes out to our brothers at Lafayette Fire for the invite to use your aquired structure!
